I have a pretty new Subaru Impreza with a manual transmission.... As of late there has been a very faint but noticeable squeaking sound when releasing the clutch into gear. I think it happens at all gears, but it's most noticeable in lower gears (most likely because I'm going slower, so it's easier to hear). I can only hear it with the windows open, not from inside the car, and it sounds like it's coming from underneath the car. I guess the most closely comparable noise I can think of is sort of nails on a chalkboard-like. Which, if you've heard before, you'll probably understand why it worries me - awful sound. But again, very quiet. It's not a consistent, even sound, it's sort of chirpy - on and off very quickly and shaky-sounding. And while it used to only happen from the release of the clutch to about a half second or a second later, now it seems to last for about 2-3 seconds at times. Naturally, with the elongation of the sound, I'm starting to think it might be something serious. Just can't fathom any reason why such a new car would have something wrong with it!
