2002 Subaru Impreza engine knocking noise.

Hi there i have a 2002 Subaru Impreza Rx 2.5 Ltr, I have just noticed since the past few days that there is a prominent knocking sound that comes from the enginse as u excelarate, its as if its acrank noise or may be the pistons, but surprisingly the car runs fine with no loss of power. what can be that noise possible be of , is it serious?

It sounds like either a wrist pin, or connecting rod bearing, wrist pin is where the rod connects to the piston, connecting rod, is at the crank end of the piston, either way, the only fix is part replacement...
