2002 Subaru Impreza Car smells like gas

I have a 2002 Impreza WRX with the same problem. When you first put on the heat you get blasted with gas fumes for about 5 min or so, then it goes away. I was told that it is a design flaw for this particular year and they fixed it for the 03 models. Two parts need to be replaced in order to fix the problem, however it isn't a recall item so you'll have to pay for it. Apparently it's a pretty common problem for 02 models.
