Hi, I’m hoping you can help, I cannot find anything on the net or through Subaru forums similar to the problem I am having.
I have a 2000 Subaru Impreza RS 2.5 Manual Trans.
My Speedometer and Tach do not work. The gas Gauge , Temp Gauge even the Clock works, but the Tach and Speedo have given up. Also the Digital display showing my Odometer just blinks with lines across it, and if I click over to the Trip meter , it rolls over and over as if I am travelling 100 km’s a second! Cruise control works, but it’s not like I know how fast I am travelling to set it!!!
Could it be the Vehicle Speed Sensor ? I thought maybe the Gauge Cluster itself, but most I have asked said the all the gauges usually go. I have also pulled out the ECM under the passenger floor and it doesn’t appear to have any moisture and all else seems fine.
The only thing I get is out of those 2 Gauges is that the Tach will (once a week approx.) shoot up to 3 or 4000 RMP for a quick second, then back down to zero.
Any help you would be able to provide would be very much appreciated
Thank you in advance
Rob
