1998 Subaru Impreza 4 cyl All Wheel Drive Manual

Hi,
my ABS light keeps coming on, then goes off, doesnt! stay on.
what could it be?

That is an intermittent problem. Even though the light is coming and going, you should be able to get a code out of it with the proper scan tool.

so if the abs light was out at the time, they where diagnosing , would they still find problem ???

It should have stored something in the "failure records/ freeze frame"
