2003 Subaru Baja whining noise

I have a the exact prob going on with mine(manual trans) after noise finally settled in all the time its been about 3K miles and same noise nothing broken yet. i would like an anwer also

mechinic thinks it could be in the differential and could be barring noise---we changed the fluid and hope for the best---mechanic says go ahead and drive--itf it gets worse i will know because of the vibration and louder noise

Did that work for your subaru, my baja still making that whinning noise from 25mph on, still nothing broken, gas mileage stays the same, no overheating. about to get my front diff fluid changed. Let me know if it fixed your problem thanks
