When cruising in overdrive and approaching an incline with rpm's at about 1800 I begin the assent keeping steady pressure on the accelerator pedal. The rpm's will decline to about 1200, but instead of down shifting the drive-train will stutter and stumble. When I depress the pedal the transmission will down shift and stuttering stops.
This is a new condition, in the past the transmission would automatically downshift. It is fairly predictable and I can create the problem about 70% of the time.
