Stuck in first and shuts off at stop, please any advice?

I have the vehicle listed above a 4.0 i6 with a 42re transmission. I had a leak between the bellhousing and the block, so I replaced the seal between the transmission pump and the torque converter. Put it back together, still leaked. So, i dropped the transmission again this week and put a brand-new transmission pump and torque converter on. I got it done today, fire it up and the leaks gone! but now I have a new problem. The vehicle won't shift out of first no matter the RPMs, and it shuts off when you come to a complete stop. Any help is greatly appreciated.
