What is the proper way to re-grease rear struts?

There really isn't a way to grease a strut. If you are getting a clunking sound when you hit bumps, chances are either the strut is blown or the strut plate (mount) is bad. Also, a broken coil spring can cause a noise.

First, check for leaks or anything that appears cracked, broken, or distorted. If nothing appears bad and the vehicle doesn't bounce excessively, then suspect the strut plate/mount needs replaced.

I attached an exploded view of the strut below. Where I highlighted, check for evidence of oil leaks. The coil is circled with a red pen. Check to make sure there are no cracks in it specifically where it mounts. In blue pen I circled the mount I referred to. To replace it requires the assembly to be removed and taken apart.

My apologies. I meant to say that the rubber mounts need to be greased. Someone with a 2017 Altima has the same problem with the same sound. He brought it to the dealership and they took the rubber mounts apart and greased them and the noise went away. Unfortunately it won’t let me attach the video of the sound that I have on my phone.

No problem whatsoever. Did he mention which rubber mount? There are insulators on the coil spring, at both top and bottom of the strut, and the strut mount/plate.
