I purchased an old car a while ago.
I have noticed the steering wheel "wobbles" a little bit when I drive on highway at forty to fifty mph.
No weird noises (clucking/thumping/clicking etc.).
When I put my hands on the steering wheel, I feel no vibration/pulsation but when I take my hands off, the steering wheel appears to "wobble".
I brought it to a shop, he told me it could be the CV joints. I brought it to another shop, he test drove it in the city and highway. He told me, the "wobbliness" is normal.
He told me you cannot expect things to stay still in a moving car especially at fifty mph or more. Even new cars do this, he said . When you take your hands off the steering wheel, of course the steering wheel is going to “vibrate” because the car is moving. And when I do put my hands on the steering wheel, he’s right, I cannot feel any vibration or pulsation.
i recorded the “vibration” when the car was moving but you cannot even see the “vibration” in the video due to driving. That is how low the “vibration” is. It is not really a vibration, it is more of a "wobbliness" if anything.
So, I tried to replicate the "vibration"when the car is parked. Here it is.
