The car starts but does not drive?

Hi,

Does anything happen when you place it in reverse or drive? For example, does the engine speed slow down? Also, did this happen all at once? Have you checked the transmission fluid to make sure it is clean and full? Are there any odd odors or sounds from the transmission area?

Let me know. Also, and don't laugh, if you place it in park, does the vehicle move as if it is in neutral?

Thanks for replying so quickly and happy new years to you as well! And with the issue, the car starts but when put in drive or reverse doesn’t move and just revs and no it hasn’t happened before. The car was working fine until one day it didn’t, however there is also a check engine light which I’m getting checked out pretty soon.

Okay, it is a good idea to check the codes. Hopefully, that will point us in the right direction. Also, make sure to write down any codes that are found.

One other thing. Check to see if the gear indicator is showing the correct gear.
