When I start the car turn the key engine turns over trying to start but as soon as I let the key go it stops. I have tried it in park and neutral and the same.

This sounds like the ignition switch as failure here is how you can replace it to fix the problem. Check out the images (below). Please let us know if you need anything else to get the problem fixed.
