How do I troubleshoot the starter solenoid and starter?

Hi,

If you suspect the starter could be an issue, do this. I attached the wiring schematic for the starter circuit below, so you have a reference.

First, see if it will start in neutral. If it does, the neutral safety switch is the first suspect. If there is no change, I need you to check the two fuses I highlighted below. In addition to checking the fuses, confirm there is power to and from them.

If they are good, remove the starter relay and switch it with a different one in the box having the same part number. If there isn't one, here is a link that explains how to test one:

If that tests good, I need you to get a helper. At the starter, there will be a heavy gauge red wire that has battery voltage at all times. Be careful not to short it. Additionally, there will be a smaller gauge wire. It is yellow with a light blue tracer on it. Have a helper turn the key to the start position. If that yellow/light blue wire gets power when the key is in the start position, the starter is the likely issue.
