Starter relay removal

I understand. A lot of times the contacts get corroded and the relay sticks. I have had to use needle nose pliers and rock it back and forth in order to get them out. They are meant to be tight but if it is breaking then most likely they are a little corroded.

Can you get a picture of what the current state is and we will see what we can do to come up with an idea on how to get it out. Thanks

Here's the image. I also tried to remove the whole case, but the wiring harness were also giving me trouble and I didn't want to risk damaging it. I did see that it looked like on the bottom, but doesn't seem like I could do anything there, just a bunch of wires.

Oh wow. Yeah you definitely went after that one.

The best thing I can think to do at this point is use two needle nose pliers at the circled locations. Then pull up in a rocking motion. Don't put your face over your hands because when it lets go you may punch yourself in the face (I have done that).

As for removing the entire unit, I would not do that either. As you can see there is a lot of wiring under there so I would just get the relay out and you will be much better off.

Let me know how you make out or if you need other ideas.

I sprayed a little WD-40 and it came out easy, I just have to wait for it to dry before reinstalling right? How long?

Good idea. Clearly if it was corroded then that would break that down. I would just get a can of CRC electronic cleaner. Picture attached. Then spray the contacts using the straw and let that evaporate in a few minutes. That will clean off the oil left behind from the WD 40.

I didn't need to get crc cleaner, I just clean the remaining top and bottom with a microfiber towel as best I can and it worked no problem. Thanks for the help.
