It sounds like you have a faulty starter motor solenoid which is built into the starter motor assembly causing the clicking, no start condition. Here are a few tutorials showing the operation of the solenoid and how to replace a starter motor:

I thought when you bought a part and there was a core that was refunded back to the price. Now they add it to the price. It was 330.00 for refurbished part. They have lost their mind.

As far as the cost, wow!!! That is high. When you have a core, that should be refunded when you return the old part. Are you saying they charged you that amount?

I just looked on an AutoZone site and the prices range from $250.00 and up, which is extreme for a remanufactured alternator. If you look at pic 1, I attached prices for an original equipment part from a dealer. That is a retail price listed. Interestingly, there are two alts, 130 amp, and 150 amp. The 130 amp is more. Ugh!!!

Let me know if they didn't refund the core charge. That doesn't make sense.

Yes, when you purchase a remanufactured unit they will charge you a 'core" price until you give them your old one back. Then they will refund you the 'core' charge when you return it. If not you should go back and complain. Glad to hear you and your son fixed the problem! That is how I got my start fixing cars was being dads assistant at age 10. Who new at age 12 I'd own a car a become a Mechanic. Thanks again for using 2CarPros and we hope you will use our site again in the future when needed.
