My SUV started stalling while driving it a couple months ago. It had a check engine light that said mass air flow sensor. We replaced it. It did not fix it. It kept popping up different codes so we replaced the crank positioning sensor, fuel cap, ignition switch, fuel pump relay, ECM, replaced ground wires and mass air flow sensor as before mentioned. The fuel pump has been tested twice and the battery has been tested. Nothing is correcting the problem. We have had no engine lights since replacing the ECM. It does restart after it shuts off, but sometimes it will take a few minutes. It will run a little way then shuts off again. When it is driving it runs perfectly. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

When the engine stalls is the fuel pump working? It sounds like a classic fuel pump problem which these trucks had. I would try the pump and relay first.

Here is a guide to give you an idea on what you are in for when doing the job:

Replace the relay as well.

Here is the pump from Amazon, this one comes with the harness end which has troubles as well:

This is what it will be like on your car (below).

Please let us know what happens.

Cheers, Ken

We have replaced the relay but not fuel pump. We had it tested twice but after driving it the last two days (usually my better half limps it to work) I am thinking fuel pump. It stalls in hills and after curves frequently along with other places as well. We gamble on how far we will get once we leave home. ;)
