Hi my car started stalling when cold, OBD said error P1634 Throttle valve adaptation spring test failed, the symptoms are;

1) if you start the car first thing in the morning the car will stall and gives the error p1634.
2) after clearing the error about five times without idling the car, it will start and run normal.

This has been happening for a while, so what I did was, I started to erase the error before idling, inserted the key on position 2 just before engine start and I could hear a clicking sound, the throttle body engaging, so this happens about five times, I clear the errors (with OBD scanner) and it stops, I've replaced the throttle body with a new one from VDO replaced the Idle control valve and DISA which needed replacement.

connected DIS57 and cleared all adaptations, but still the same problem, clicking sound in the morning, and if I start the car right away it will stall.

I read somewhere that the loom that connects to the throttle body could be an issue. Also there are no errors displayed in dis57. I only get flashing C CC and O in OBD scanner, I was wondering if there another step to program the throttle body or maybe it has nothing to do with it

Hello,

Do you have oil leaking into the wiring harness from the sensors? What can happen is there will be oil in the connector at the ECU which makes the ECU go bad. Remove the connector to check it out. Also try checking for vacuum leaks using a smoke machine or by following this guide. If you find a leak repair it and re-clear all adaptations again.

Please let us know what you find so it will help others.

Best, Ken
