My car started sputtering while I accelerate, not sure why? But my car keeps shutting off and will turn back on when I try.

The first thing that comes to mind is a weak fuel pump, here is a guide that will help you test the pump.

If you don't have a fuel pressure gauge the auto parts store will rent you one for free.
