Spitting gas out of the top of the carburetor

My van, with a 351w, engine. So far you gentlemen have helped me. My van was not running, it sat for a period, so we did a full tune up, new plugs, wires, cap and rotor, etc. It cranks just fine, but still would not start. I checked what I could and found out that my buddy had not hooked the plug wires to the correct number's. So I looked up the correct firing order and reconnected the wires. I went to start the van and it would not start, now it was spitting gas out the top of the carburetor. I know I cannot be that stupid to connect them wrong. Or could I. Could you lead me in the right direction. And the carburetor is a new Edelbrock #1406. I am so close to getting itto run again.

Check firing order as per your engine.

sorry about the multi pictures. I do not know how that happened. just check the two firing orders and check against your engine.

Hi, I placed the plug wires in the correct firing order and the same problem, the van cranks just fine, but I still have gas spiting out the top of the carb. what could this be. I replaced the mechanical fuel pump and new braided hose from the pump to carb, and now it works great.I didn't know if will help with your evaluation. Please help me figure this out, I'm so close to driving the van again.

make sure ignition timing is correct, no vacuum leaks and do a compression test as well, just to make sure all is correct there.
