Hello, how are you? I just bought the car and while driving it, I drove through a pothole and after I very short time, I noticed my speedometer stopped working. I ran a scan tool when I got home and I got an error 1244 (Open or Short Deceleration Sensor Circuit). I've tried to locate the Deceleration Sensor in the car all to no avail. I don't want to keep probing all around the car until I know for sure where it is and what I can do to fix it. I'd appreciate all the help I can get.

Is that P code or C code? There is no code P1244 but I see a code for a C1244 where you would need to diagnose skid control module? Fault could be in the ECM or the Skid Control Module for an RPM issue? So basically the data from the skid control unit to the engine control module is missing. Check all your ABS sensors wiring for any damage. If there is no check engine light/tracs light on or just an ABS/Tracs light on then your cluster will most likely be where your fault is.

With your scan tool connected and someone else driving, go to the data list and monitor the speed signal. If you see the speed signal updating and showing how fast your going then the cluster is most likely faulty. If there are any other fault codes please post them on here.

Hello, how are you? I've checked it out with the scan tool. No readings. Can you please help me locate where the Deceleration Sensor is? I can't seem to find it and I've searched everywhere I could. Under the passenger side seats like most Toyota vehicles and under the center console. I don't want to keep searching. I would like to know a definite location so I can inspect the Deceleration Sensor as was stated in the error C1244. Thank you

Hello and sorry for the late reply. The sensor is located under the center console. Attached image below. Hope this helps you narrow it down.

Thank you for getting back to me. The image of the yaw rate sensor I see in this image is different from what I think it is supposed to look like. Can you please send me an image of the yaw rate sensor for a Lexus ES 330 2004 model?

Thank you for getting back to me. I've searched the center console but I can't find the yaw rate sensor. According to that image, it is supposed to be here but I can't locate it. The VIN of the vehicle is JTHBA30G045011785. I'd appreciate any history you can help me pull up about the car and any help I can get about the location of the Yaw rate sensor. Thank you

It is not under that ducting. I don't see the wiring and I don't know if it was removed or moved by someone else. I don't have the history of the car.

Yep, someone took it out not knowing what it is. you will need to take apart the car further to see what happened to the wiring harness.
