Why does the speedometer gauge stop working while driving?

My speedometer gauge will just quit working while driving and the car won't want to switch gears. I can put it over into manual and it will drive fine. It was put on a computer at a repair shop, and he said it needed speed wheel sensors. We replaced those, yet it did not fix it.

The problem is with your VSS or transmission output sensor. Here is how you can change the sensor out which is inside the transmission near the valve body, Check out the diagrams (below). Please let us know if you need anything else to get the problem fixed.
