Speakers/sound working intermittently

Originally told that was a sign the radio is going bad. Replaced with an aftermarket basic stereo CD player. Speakers still failing. Before spending $100.00+ on new speakers all around, someone has suggested to check amp fuse, which is different than basic radio fuse... But we can't find its location to check.

I've attached 2 pictures below of where the main radio and amp fuse location as you requested.They are located on the BCM- body control module in location numbers 6 and 23. Hope this helps and thanks for using 2CarPros.

If the fuse is bad, it won't work on and off. What are we dealing with? Is it a factory radio or an aftermarket? Also, did this happen to all speakers at the same time?

Some of these vehicle have an Amp and some don't. Are you sure there is one? I'm only asking because you indicated it was a basic original radio.

If you look at the two pics below, I attached wiring schematics. If this is something that has affected all speakers at the same time, chances are it is a connection issue and not the speakers.

Check the connections in at (either the amp, Pic, 1 or the back of the radio, pic 2).

It is the factory installed basic stereo. Lots of videos showed some of the HHR's had a nicer stereo installed from factory, but this isn't one of those.
The speakers started intermittently go out once in awhile. Now it's almost always. Tweeters always work. There are 2 speakers in each front door and 2 in back. Those take turns going out. Its never all of them at once until the last month or so. Now, none of them work except tweeters.
I have no idea if it has an amp- that is one of my main questions. How do I know and where would it be located?
The fuse in original stereo was fine- I checked it. The one in new radio works as well. We know it has to be a connection issue, but having trouble finding it.
I will check the fuse suggestions.
The wiring behind stereo was all connected and undamaged.

I'm in agreement with Joe as well that if a fuse went bad it won't work at all. If you stereo system has an amplifier option it's located behind left rear quarter panel.Hope this helps and thanks again for using 2CarPros.
