Loud creak noise made when truck sits overnight and is opened first thing the next morning or after an 8 hour work shift. Took it to two dealerships thought it was door check and I discovered sound was not coming from door.

Hello, I'm Danny.

When it comes to a noise what we ask is for you to do is use your cell phone to make a recording and upload it here. That can help us hear what you are hearing and we'll go from there. Hope this helps and thanks for using 2CarPros.

Yes, that is the noise. When the hood is shut the loud creak sounds like it is coming from the door. Only does it after the car sits. Once I reopen and close the door, no noise. A neighbor said the immobilizer?
Thanks

Hello again.

It sounds like an audible alarm when you have the key in the ignition. Does this happen sporadically or only after a few hours ? Can you hear the buzzer-sound from under the dashboard or from under hood,. Get back to us and we'll go from there. Hope this helps and thanks again for using 2CarPros.

Hi Danny,

So it happens sporadically when I open the driver side door and sometimes after the door has stayed open for about 10 minutes and then closed it would make the noise. However, it is at its loudest when the car sits over night or when its sat closed all day while I am at work (usually about 8.5 hours). Today after work I will open the door after getting in the driver side and see if I can hear it from inside the truck. It is loudest when I have the hood of the truck open. Prior opening the hood it sounded like it was coming from the hinges, which as I mentioned made the dealership believe it was the door check, which it is not. I'll update you this afternoon.
Thanks.

So getting in from the passenger side this afternoon I could not hear it from the dashboard. It seems to be coming from under the hood.

Good evening,

This sounds like a motor working when this happens.

What you need to do is have someone open the door and you feel around for the vibration. It could be a small motor or a solenoid making the noise.

Since it is a new truck, you should check and see if there are any TSB or recalls from the dealer. Our systems have 2020 but not up to date information.

So today I got in the passenger side without opening the driver side and it made the noise as soon as I put the key in the ignition. The driver side door was never opened.

Hello again.

I don't think it has anything to do with the front doors. It sounds like when you turn the ignition key is turned on the power energizes a solenoid or motor for a couple seconds. The sound is coming from under the hood. I looked at all the TSB's - technical service bulletins for your truck but nothing matched the description of your trucks issue. i know you said you took it to 2 different dealerships but I would go back again. Have then listen under the hood for the sound. It should be covered under warranty as well. Hope this helps and keep us updated. Thanks again for using 2CarPros.

Apparently it was the throttle body actuator. Some “de-icing” feature. They swapped it out but still seems pretty loud in my opinion but I can’t take it in anymore. This was the 4th time.

It sounds like something you will have to live with.

Did you ask to see if another new truck makes the same noise?

Hello again.

Wow. A de-icing feature. I thought that was a feature for airplanes. Hopefully that sound won't drive you nuts. Thanks for the update. Hope you will use our site again in the future. Thanks again for using 2CarPros.

It’s definitely the throttle body but I’m convinced they didn’t swap it out.

That is definitely the plate.

Did they say they replaced it?

Did you ask if another truck makes the noise?

I'm taking it to a trusted mechanic on Wednesday next week. He is a Ford certified mechanic because he works on the Ford Fleet for the police department and fire department. so hopefully he will have some answers for me! I'll keep you updated.

Hello again.

Your truck is brand new so I don't understand why it wasn't covered under warranty or fixed properly and now it's coming out of your pocket for repair. You've made a video of the noise so if I were you I would start contacting the higher ups in Ford and tell them it's BS and you're getting the run around. Just my 2 cents. Hope it all works out. Thanks again for using 2CarPros.
