My right front directional stopped working but all others were working fine. I replaced the smart junction box with a used one which solved the problem. Now neither of my key fobs work. I can't lock or unlock the doors, unlock the trunk or set the alarm. Do the fobs need to be reprogrammed and if so, is there a way to do it without taking the car to a dealer?

Hi Laurie,

You definitely need to program them and should be able to do it yourself.

There may be an issue due to it being a used module but I doubt it. Here is a video and written instructions. Let me know if you have trouble and we can try something else.

Thanks

Thanks for getting back to me. I did everything as described in the video. The locks engaged and disengaged as shown. When I hit the button on the fob, the alarm (horn) went off twice, but the fob still isn't working. I did replace the batteries in both fobs but still no luck.

I probably should've mentioned that my key and fob are 1 piece. I believe it's referred to as an IKT.

Sorry. That does change this. You need a scan tool in order to program these types. However, you do not have to go to a dealership. Obviously, they can do it but most scan tools have the ability to do it as well. Just be sure you are not using a code reader to do this. Those look similar but a code reader only reads codes. It does not have the ability to perform functions such as program keys.
