1. Acceleration is very slow. This is a big issue on highways, especially entering the highway, where quick acceleration is needed to match oncoming traffic.
2. The engine is extremely loud during acceleration.
3. The rpm needle becomes very high during acceleration. Recently on the highway, RPMs went up to 4,500 RPMs, and even then, acceleration was very sluggish.
4. RPM is similarly high when climbing hills.
5. RPM is normal on level roads.
6. Check engine light is on. Will take to the mechanic in August.
The problem is that the same symptoms were there last year, along with the check engine light. The mechanic (independent) performed repairs for over $1,000, and the check engine light went away, but the acceleration issue persisted. Now the check engine light is back.
