What happens is that when I try to ignite the car, the engine cranks but never start. I really don't know what to do with it. I checked the timing belt, the sparks, the fuses I mean all the usual things, but the engine never starts. I really wish you could help me

regards,

Juimy

Is the engine getting a good hot blue spark to the plugs? Is the fuel pump pressure within the manufacturer's specs?

I checked the fuel pump, the gas gushed in the cylender when i try to unscrew it just a bit, but there is a strange white smoke coming underneath the engine. I forgot to tell you just before the engine stops running, it was out of oil because i have a leaking in the oil tank.

The smoke comes from under the engine? Also, if you have fuel and spark to the engine, it should start. Tell me this... if you use starting fluid, will the engine start for a couple seconds?

Yes the smoke comes from under the engine. What do you mean by Starting fluid? is it that kind of spray, you spray in the pipe that goes to the air filter? if I tried this, the engine sounded like it was starting but did not actually.

You need to spray it into the throttle body.

A rotten egg smell is usually from the catalytic converter. Have you checked to see if the fuel pressure is within the manufacturer's specs? Are you getting spark to the plugs? Is there a chance the timing belt has broken or jumped timing?

Thank you for the hint, I will try to. But what do you think the problem may be? Is there any possibility for the problem to have any link whasoever with the timing chain? Which would mean an engine problem., right? Is the turbo play any role in the engine ignition power?

If the timing belt has broken or skipped time, it won't start. No to the turbo causing this issue. Let me know what happens with the starting fluid and that will help me at least diagnose where the problem is coming from. If you don't want to use the starting fluid, you can check for spark to the plugs and check to see if the fuel pressure is within the manufacturer's specs.

Let me know.

If you have spark and fuel to the engine, it should run. The smell has me a bit confused. Have you tried disconnecting the catalytic converter to see if it will run then?

The cluster is an interesting idea, but I doubt it. Have you checked fuel pump pressure?

Okay, at this point, we need to know if you are losing spark when this happens. Can you check that?

You need to be checking for any fault codes with a scan, also check for fuel pressure and flow, spark and injection pulse, can you do this?

2003 Skoda Octavia 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual 198000 miles

I recentley changed the cambelt on my 1.9tdi engine which then would not start so I towed it to the local skoda dealer who have verified that the timing is ok but are now struggling to find the fault.I changed the fuel filter and glow plugs after doing the belt and prefilled the filter with diesel and cracked off the injector pipes and diesel spurts out so it seems to be injecting.the dealer has also verified that the compressions are good and that the camshaft is not broken.the only other thing that happens when cranking over the engine a lot of white smoke is omitted from the exhaust below the manifold.Any help you can give will be greatly appreciated, many thanks E.
