Is it possible to swap the skim unit with the PCM

Not really they are hard coded into the PCM. Back in the day you could with the PROM units but those days are behind us. Here is how to replace the PCM in the diagrams below. Check out the diagrams (below). Please let us know if you need anything else to get the problem fixed.
