Shutter/shaking after heavy acceleration

I got on the gas pretty heavy to pass a semi, I got up to about 75 mph, when letting up on the gas the check engine light began to flash and I felt a shuttering or shaking. I let off the gas completely, put it in neutral and coasted to about 35 mph. The check engine light went off and the shutter went away. I put it back in drive and everything ran fine. This was the second occurrence, the first occurrence happened about 3 months ago, also after heavy acceleration accept the shutter was brutal. Thanks for any help in advance. The best place to start would be a scan for trouble codes in the power-train control module (PCM). If there are no codes there, monitor mode 6 (on board test results) for misfire data to see if there is a particular cylinder dropping out more than the others.

First thing, since this is such a new vehicle you need to take it to the dealer ASAP so they can scan it for codes and most importantly you can have the issue documented.

Next this sounds like either a throttle position sensor issue or a mass air intake sensor.

However, no matter if you take it to a dealer or not, we need to start with checking for codes. Since the light was on there should be a code stored even though it went off. We need that code to determine next steps.

Here is a guide that talks about hesitations and common causes, however keep in mind that your vehicle is different then the ones this was mostly written for. The principals are the same but I can almost guarantee that this issue will be resolved with a software update as most of these intermittent and random concerns are software correctable.

I checked TSBs and did not find one directly related but I would suggest getting it documented no matter what. Thanks

Thanks guys, I should note that I had to take my vehicle to the dealer, around the middle of February for a recall, which resulted in them having to put in a new short block... may have something to do with it. It might be a while before I can get it up to a dealership for service. Thanks again.

It very well could have something to do with the repair they did. I would suggest at least giving them a call and working out a date or time that you can get it in so they are aware of the issue. Thanks for the update.
