When I apply the brakes the front shudders and seems to be more prominent on the left side.

Hi,
If it is only happening when you apply the brakes, it sounds like the brake rotors are warped. Years ago, shops would cut them if they were within tolerance. Anymore, it's approximately the same price to simply replace them.
If this is the case, it would be a good idea to replace the brake pads at the same time.
I attached the directions below for replacing the rotor. All that is required is the removal of first the brake caliper/brake pads and then the caliper mount. At that point, the rotor will pull off. Note that it could be corroded, so you may need to persuade it to come off with a rubber mallet or dead blow hammer.
