To answer your question no. There is no break in type period to have the shocks perform their best. Depending what brand shocks you installed and if they are adjustable or non adjustable there can be several factors what you could be noticing for ride quality when driving. As far as my personal recommendations on my Chevrolet truck I've always recommended Bilstein brand. however, they are a little more pricey but ride quality is superior. Do you know what brand shocks were installed? Is the ride quality a little more stiff as a result? I've attached picture steps below on how to replace the shock absorbers on your vehicle. I had a garage install them.

Is the vehicle still bouncing after the install? Does it do the same things it did prior to repair? Can you describe exactly what is happening?

Hello again.

As Joe stated in the earlier post it would help us diagnose the problem by knowing the ride quality-issue at hand after replacement of your shocks. I've added a few pictures below of the Bilstein brand shock absorbers I use personally on all my 4x4's for superior ride quality.
