I am having an issue after buying an aftermarket clutch. It is a stage three Southbend Daily and resurfaced OEM flywheel. Sometimes hard to get in gear when driving or when in neutral won't either get in or out of a gear and does it at random. No grinding of gears or making any weird noises. I have read in forums and seems like a common problem with all aftermarket clutches once installed in a subie, but none says what actually fixed it. And some do not have an issue and they changed all new flywheel as well. Can it be the resurfaced flywheel?

I have already changed slave cylinder and re-bleed system, and installed ACT monoloc and same issue. Some say pressure plate or stock throw out bearing goes bad after non OEM clutch. Also to check clutch pedal adjustment. I do not know if last shop has done that. Thanks for any help.

first thing is throw out bearing should have been replaced automatic. check to see if you can see if release arm is bent then try a rebleed of system by letting it gravity bleed first, then bleed in regular way.

People are saying to check and make sure clutch pedal was adjusted first, then see if slave cylinder needs longer rod to push more fluid and make sure fluids are good which I changed out so I know isn't that. Then start checking all other as in clutch assembly. Thanks will do, U.S. Airforce in South Korea.

Hello Aponte915

I want to thank you for your service. Next I have seen where when installing the transmission the clutch disc gets bent because the transmission is allowed to hang on it without being bolted up. If all else falls this can be the problem.

Let me know what happens,

Best, Ken

Most of the time when that scenario happens the clutch will chatter if anything with this it is because the disc is in backwards which I doubt.
