I need to replace the selector cover of the gear shift in my SUV. I am wondering if there is a way to replace it without taking the entire center console apart.

You should be able to. The steps for removing the console start with using a plastic pry tool to remove the trim ring from the shift indicator, then removing the tray at the dash side of the console to get to the screw that holds the large trim panel down, then pry up the clips at the edges of the large cup holder trim panel and finally release the four clips that hold the shift indicator in place.

1 Remove the selector lever trim ring.

2 Remove the front floor console utility tray mat.
3 Remove the front floor console utility tray screw.

4 Remove the floor console upper finish panel.
A- Disconnect electrical connector(s).

5 Release the 4 retainers and position selector lever indicator bezel aside.

Be very careful with the clips and retainers, they design them to go together once, they can be broken real easy taking them apart.

Hi Steve,

Thank you for the response. I am currently working on this and am stuck on step 4. I am not sure what the "floor console upper finish panel" is. Do you have a picture of this for reference?

Thank you,

Brea

That is the entire plastic panel with the hole for the gearshift and the cup holders in it. The entire part is the finish panel.
