shifter/selector switch

when i put my car in park it reads Park on gear shifter but reads nothing on the dash and feels like its in neutral so i have to use the emergency brake so the care dont move and to start the car i have to but it in neutral first or it wont start

This is due to the park neutral switch not reading park.

I am attaching the info below on how to test this and replace it but here is a guide that will help perform this testing:

This switch is responsible for telling the PCM that the vehicle is in park or neutral so that you can start the vehicle. However, when it does not read park then it will not start. It does read neutral so that it will start there but not park.
