I just bought a secondhand SGS , was not going when I bought it, they said it was the fuel pump but I seem to be pumping fuel up. The firing order was all out so I looked it up and put it into the right order but still would not fire. (All plugs are sparking and smell like gas) checked the fuse box and the automatic choke/fuel pump had a blown five fuse Which is meant to be a fifteen, I swapped it to a fifteen, but still will not start. I read on another forum that I could do a fault code test with the ECU ( pulled the whole dash/center console apart and could not find the damn thing!) While doing that I found a small key and barrel behind the glove box as pictured, what does it do? Does not make the car start that is for sure. Can you tell me where the ECU is? Or any other ideas as to why it will not start. Please help this is mind boggling!

the key could be another ignition key or a security feature so see if it turns and car starts. then follow pictures for no spark you should really scan for codes though. you should check fuel pressure with a gauge as well auto parts rent it. I am assuming this car is not in US as we do not have a 1.4L here. See link and pictures.

Thanks for the reply mate. No the car is in New Zealand. the key didn't seem to do anything, I'm guessing it's a security system for the stereo which has been removed. All plugs are sparking plus getting gas to them. Tried spraying ether down the Carby but still didn't fire. Would like to scan codes but pulled out pretty much all the interior and no ECU to be found

the ecm may be in engine compartment if you aren't getting fire then check pick up coil and ignition system for a problem.see pics on how to check power transistor and coil. i's 1.6 L in US but has to be same.
