My boyfriend was able to remove the old belt near the Altanator. Forgive me if I sound un-knowledgeable but I know nothing about trucks hence why I'm asking here. We have a new belt from autozone but he cannot put the belt on the vehicle correctly due to what he described as springs that need a specific tool in order to apply the belt correctly. These springs need to be pulled left and right, almost clamped that way....I am not sure if he fully understands the way to fix it but my question is where is a detailed description on how to install a new serpentine belt to a 1985 Ford ranger so I can know if a mechanic needs to do it or if we need can do it for a cheaper price. Thank you
