Serpentine belt?

Hi,

Certainly, the belts may have gotten wet, but one would think after a day, they would have dried off enough to stop making noise. However, the first thing I would check is that the belts are both tight. They can stretch a bit when new and the water may have been enough to make it noticeable.

So, if the vehicle stalled today, by chance was the battery light staying on? Was the vehicle able to be started after this happened? Have you checked the alternator belt to make sure it is tight enough to properly charge the battery?

Thank you for your response. My check engine light turned on and I have a P0345 error code. I looked it up and it says camshaft sensor bank 2 and from what I Googled it says that can cause the car to turn off while driving. can you tell me how many of those sensors this car takes? I am shopping around and see on eBay people selling 3-pcs is that the correct amount and should I change all 3 at once? I have checked the belts and they are tight but I noticed it makes the noise when in reverse only.

If that is the only code, there is only one sensor that is needed. Keep in mind, I've never heard that type of noise from a cam sensor, but anything is possible.

As far as the sensor is concerned, it will be on the rear of the cylinder head on the driver's side. Pic 1 below shows an approximate location.

Next, there is a difference between the left and right-side cam sensors. The one you need is part number 23731AL61A. That is the OEM part number, so if you get an aftermarket one, it may be different. Just remember you need the one for the left, bank 2.

Pic 2 below provides a picture of the sensor you are looking for. There is one bolt that holds it in place. When you remove it, take your time and if the bolt is extremely tight, work it back and forth. You don't want it to break off.

I'm sorry if I confused you, the noise is coming from the belts. Plus, I got that code. I just don't understand how to correct the belt noise if those belts are brand new.

No problem whatsoever. I thought that was where you thought the noise was coming from.

If the belts are new and making that noise, either one is loose or one of the pulleys is locked up. Since it doesn't make the noise right away, I was thinking it was the AC compressor. If you turn the HVAC system off, does the noise go away?

If it doesn't, first make sure one of the belts isn't loose. If they are both tight, remove one at a time and try to spin each of the belt-driven accessories. See if one is difficult to turn, making noise when turned, or doesn't turn at all.

We need to get that fixed. It has to be driving you crazy. LOL Plus, if it is a belt, eventually it is going to break.
