Serpentine belt keeps coming loose?

Hi,

When you retighten the alternator after adjustment, what do you tighten? If you look at the pic below, there are a few different areas that need to be secured.

In the pic, the letter B indicates where you adjust belt tension. Once that is adjusted, the other highlighted area bolts need to be tightened. Are you getting all of them?

Let me know. Also, if you can get a pic of the alternator when it is crooked (after the belt falls off) and upload it for me to see, that may help me.

I just noticed you have another post. Do me a favor. Look at pic 2 below. Copy it and show me how the alternator belt is run. It should go around the water pump pulley and the crankshaft pulley.

Maybe I answered my own question, is there one belt or three belts on the car? The A/C compressor is locked up so, but the power steering pump is separate from the alternator belt when I looked at the diagram I tried to tell my mechanic that whoever had the car before me had the belt literally had the alternator wired all crazy on the car and that's why because it is always going to move the alternator because the belt is supposed to go on the alternator and water pump and crank thinging which they call the bottom belt so of course it's going to come off because if you put the alternator on belt all the way to the back to power steering pulleys are not going to be in lines are going to line up no way, is that correct? There is a serpentine belt for that model, but the A/C goes to the idler pulley which my car doesn't have just like the pictures, was I right?

It sounds like you have it figured out. Yes, there should be three belts on the vehicle. The alternator belt is only to go around the water pump and the crank pulley only. On the rear of the water pump pulley, there should be a location for another belt that runs the power steering. The third belt is for the A/C compressor and runs around the crank pulley and AC pulley. If the compressor is locked up, just remove that one.

How many belts are presently on the vehicle? Can you take a few pics of what you are dealing with and upload them for me to see?

Also, I found a better pic. I highlighted the alt belt with yellow and in blue I indicated where the Power Steering belt would run. They are certainly on different planes and wouldn't work together. Note the blue goes behind the water pump pulley.
