I was trying to replace my multi-function switch. I started removing the old one it, then decided i don't know what I'm doing so put it back together. Now none of my headlight's work (except for parking lights) and the Security light is on. When I turn the key, it Sounds like it's about to start, but it doesn't. I Googled solutions to my problem, tried a couple things, nothing worked.

Hi,

Have you checked fuses to make sure none have failed? If not, start there. In addition to confirming the fuses are good, also make sure there is power to and from them. Here is a link to help:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-check-a-car-fuse

Next, I want you to try something. With the key in the run position, allow the vehicle to sit for approximately 10 minutes. Wait to see if the security light turns off. If it does, see if it starts at that point.

One last thought, make sure the battery is fully charged.

Let me know what you find.

Prior to posting the question I tried turning the key to accessory and waiting 10 minutes or until the security light turned off. It didn't work. After reading your reply I decided to check all the fuses. Turns out it was fuse under the hood, number 58 I believe, which is courtesy lamp? I don't know why that has anything to do with headlights and security light but either way it worked! So, thank you so much for your reply/help. I've learned my lesson, next time I'll leave it up to a real mechanic to fix it, lol.

Hi,

First, you are welcome. Second, you don't need to take it to a mechanic. You fixed it yourself this time and will in the future.

Regardless, thank you for the update. It's appreciated. And please feel free to come back anytime in the future if you have questions. You are always welcome here.

Take care,

Joe
