I am replacing the rubber seal on the existing fuel pump.
Removed the old one and replaced it with a new one.
Can’t seem to get the seal to fit exactly over the tank so to lock it down.

Hi,

Is the new seal the same size? Try this. Lubricate the new seal with a thin layer of motor oil and see if it goes on for you.

If it doesn't, take a couple of pics of what you are dealing with and upload them for me to see.

Let me know.

Thanks for replying.
The seal is a little, thicker and taller, not much though.
What happens is seal is on pump, now while holding pump down slip lock over it I look to see if the female flap is equally on and start screwing on the seal binds into the lock ring.
Never getting to threads and pops up.
I can’t turn lock ring without turning pump.
I bought it online from Honda parts company, they claimed I would fit.
I had oiled it where seal meets the ring and the pimp, no help.
Glued old one together and installed it, no leaks like before. But now my fuel gauge is wrong, says full when half, probably bent float while turning like a madman.
You know Honda 1/32 difference, you're bumming.
Thanks, JK

Hi,

That little bit of difference shouldn't be the cause. Do you have the pump assembly positioned properly? When installing the fuel pump unit, align the marks (L) on the fuel tank (M) and the fuel tank unit (N). (See pic below)

Let me know if that helps.
