Hello and thank you for answering my question. I replaced my rotors and brake pads for the back of my Scion TC yesterday. I am now experiencing Smoke coming from my rear driver side caliper, not a great deal but some. I also touched the caliper and it was very warm to the touch as well as a smoke odor. I did see some light purple color on the innermost part of the rotor.

I am at a lost. Any suggestions or idea's are greatyly appreciated

Two things to suspect.

1. Did you move the caliper piston all the way in. If not, it may "ride" the pads to the rotor and causing heat and friction.

2. Did you tighten the parking brake shoe too much? If so, it cause similar effect as #1.

I am going to take the tire off right now and check#1. I know i did not over tighten for #2 but i will make a mental note of it.

Crisis averted. The caliper was NOT pressed back all the way, as soon as i took it off the rotor and i looked down the caliper i noticed the caliper pad was at an angle. I pressed the caliper all the ways back this time and it fit like a glove.

Thank you for taking the time out of your busy day to help answer my question. I encourage everyone to make a donation as i did for the time , expertise and effort of the technicians.
