What was the initial problem and reason for changing the Clutch Slave and Master Cylinder.

Have you checked the Clutch Pedal Ajustment?

My car was hard to get in gear and shift. There wasn't a problem with the clutch slipping, so I figured it must have been either the master or slave cylinder was bad. Both were changed to be sure. Could it be possible it would have to be power bled? Is there a special tool needed to do this? Thank you Susan

Try this first....

Remove the Cap from the clutch master cylinder, make sure it is full. Then loosen the bleeder on the slave watch to see if it will gavity bleed on its own. If so let it almost empty the master and fill it again do this twice, then tighten bleeder screw, make sure master is full and put cap back on. test clutch...

Thank you for your help and quick responses. I figured out the problem. There is no bleeder valve on the slave or master cylinder. I purchased a whole new clutch and slave, master cylinder from the saturn dealer. It had to be a sealed unit, unlike the one I purchased at the auto parts store. If anyone ever inquires about this problem it is best to not try and save money as it wound up costing me more in the long run and certain makes of cars like the saturn only respond to the exact product.
