[quote:f2abf7f49c="knappie"]Thanks for the reply! The terminal block is located inside the car, behind the drivers side kick panel. 68 connections sounds right, the color is black. On this car the blocks melt and you get intermitant connections, causing total car power loss. I'm looking for a replacement. Leaving the car at the chevy dealership is not an option for me. Thanks Again, Knappie[/quote:f2abf7f49c]
i havent seen them melt that bad where u have to replace the connector is it the big red wire that feeds power to the transmission actuators and the fuel pump circuit?its like terminal f4 or f5 i think i have even seen the plastic around the pin on the instrument panel junction block melt.if this is what ur talking about then what happens is the terminal end on the 68 way black connector on the body harness is open and makes a poor connection to the instrument panel junction block pin causing a spark and heat what i usually do to fix it is take a small pick and clean that melted plastic out of the way and bend that terminal closed with the pick.if the terminal in the 68 way is arched away and damaged too badly then i have replaced the lead end and spliced it in.some guys are lazy and dont want to fix anything they would rather replace the whole thing or harness which is more work but more money in there pocket.if u were to replace the whole connector then ur best bet is too go too a pick a part or junk yard.because if that was avilabe from the dealer they would sell u the plastic 68 way connector and all the leads seperatley and that would be real expensive.ur not going to find something like that aftermarket pretty uncommon part.i would try fixing it first then go the pick apart route cheapest way to fix it.let me know how u make out and if i can help u any further.
