We were replacing the rear brake cylinders on our '96 Saturn SL2. We had the rear passenger side brake reassembled (minus the brake drum), and the rear driver's side unassembled. We were trying to get the passenger's side drum on, but the brake pads were in the way. was this because we need to bleed the brakes first? Could it be that they were reassemble incorrectly? Also, we foolishly decied to try pump in the brake pedal and the driver side cylinder seal went flying off and brake fluid went everywhere. Should we buy a new cylinder, or is putting the seal back on and proceeding with the bleed and assembly accepatable?
