the gear shift came disconnected from the transmission. it was just floating loose. a friend of mine tack welded it together so it works for now, but i need a permenant solution.

First of all thank you so much for your donation.So did the shifter cable end come loose from the bottom of shifter inside of the car?Did the cable come loose from where it's held to the transmission?Or did the cable come loose from where it's attached to the shifter tower on the transmission?If you could post a clear picture that would help also.Let me know.
