My daughter's car has trouble starting. We researched the problem and discovered that with just this particuar model, there is a know problem with the fuel injector/fuel pump. The simple answer has been to turn the ignition key half way, watching the gas guage rise; and only then starting the car. This is starting not to work often. What is the serious fix for this known problem since my daughter is 600 miles away at college and I want to completlely solve this. Thank you much in Advance.

The model year of 1997 not the S model itself there is a problem with the fuel pump's bleeding down.Is that the problem your having?Because to correct that issue you would have to replace the pump. That issue won't leave you stranded though it's just frustrating when trying to start the car.I also have a trick they my help the problem possibly stop happening for a little while until you have time or the money to do the pump.
