I have an OBDII code of P0404 that shows regularly after zeroing the computer by disconnecting the battery. I believe the next step would be to clean the EGR valve and try again. The problem is I can't see anything that looks like an EGR. I have a Haynes manual that only shows pictures of the twin cam Saturn with the EGR at the gearbox end of the inlet manifold-and it looks like an EGR. On my Saturn SL1, in the same position, is what looks like a very large solenoid with 5 wires going in to the top of it but what it is connected to does not look anything like an EGR - also there is no obvious diaphragm, no vacuum pipes and no obvious connection with the exhaust system. Is this really the EGR? Please can you direct me where to find it?
Many thanks, Mark
