1995 Saturn SL1 4 cylinder. When I bought the car, the guy told me it was going to need a tune up and ignition coils replaced asap. Of course I waited till it broke down to fix it. We replaced the ignition coils, spark plugs and spark plug wires. All parts costing a total of $116. The damn car still didn't want to turn over, it kept making this loud metal on metal sound when trying to turn it over. And every time we tried to start it, a small amount of smoke emitted from the engine. We then removed the battery and replaced it with another battery, the car started and was sputtering and blowing smoke from the rear. We tried putting in it reverse and it would stall out. The engine also shakes now violently which it was not doing before all this happened. I should mention that just before my car broke down, my husband took a long funnel and put 1/4 of trany fluid into the dipstick area of the trany. Anyone think they might know what the problem is???
