I have a 94 Saturn SL1 and the cruise control does not work.

The light for the on/off switch comes on, but the button to engage the cruise control does nothing. Wiring, cabling, Computer module... I am not sure how this module works so I am not sure if it could be mechanical or electrical or both.

Anyone have a possible starting point to this issue?

I am also seeking a good service manual on this car. I am not a mechanic, but can figure it out if I know what I am looking at. I just need to know were stuff is.

hello brijmin- I'll explain how it works and location of the components The cruise control system is utilized to maintain vehicle speed at a user selected value, with a maximum deviation of 1 mph (2 km/h) on a flat level road (0-2 percent grade). The system is comprised of a cruise control module, which is located inside the instrument panel near the steering column, control switches, cruise brake switch and a clutch cruise switch, if equipped with a manual transaxle.Yours is Automatic. Unlike other cruise control systems, this system is completely electronic and does not require the use of engine vacuum or a servo motor to operate throttle movement. To control throttle movement, a cable from the cruise control module pulls on the accelerator linkage at the pedal. that is how the cruise works on your vehicle. The most likely problem would be the cruise cable adjuster,(see diagram) located between the brake switch and the cruise control module.if the cable is OK, the switch is defective.

is the cruise control adjuster cable inside the car or in the engine compartment? I can not tell from the diagram.

The cruise control adjuster cable is inside the car .
It is located under the dash. There is a cable under the brake pedal, follow that cable, it will lead you to the adjuster by the steering column..
I'm sending the diagram to your email for better viewing.
In the fuse box, check if not sure change the fuse that is labeled"cruise control", to get the doubt out of the way.

Checked the fuse. Its OK.

The brake peddle has a cable running from the peddle to the firewall. On the other side the "dash side" there is a black box with wires running to it. No cables running to it.

The most common thing i have seen is too much slack in the cruise cable you pull the cable end attached to the gas pedal slightly towards you then twist it till the slack is gone not too ight though.Thats where i would start.
