My car is running like crap, it puts really bad and back fires. I think its the oxygen sensor but i really dont know. How can i check it and what do you think it is?

Haven't seen a bad o2 sensor chase that.let's start by u going to a auto parts store and get ur codes read if u have any codes let me know the numbers.let ne know what u find.
