1997 Saturn SC2 Computer

First of all thank you so much for your donation.Let's start with this get a wrench or a rachet and socket put it on your crank shaft bolt and see if your engine turns over freely.If it doesn't then you probably spun a rod bearing and that locked the engine up.Check your oil see if it's low let me know you find.

I tried turning the engine. Looking at it from the wheel well It turned it clockwise. It turned but it was tough to turn and took some muscle I tried it with the valve cover off. When I was checking the timing chain and it moved but it still did not move real easy. Of course it's kind of hard to get good leverage on it from the angle i was using.

The oil was fine maybe a little low but that car has always burned a litte oil for the last 50k miles or so maybe a 1/2 quart per month.

Th oil doesn't smell burned or anything like that.

Iam sorry i forgot to tell you to take out the spark plugs before you tried to turn it over.Try doing that i just want to rule that out before we go chasing down wires to the starter and the starter itself.Let me know what you find.

Ok we are taking out the plugs now. It's raining so I had to get my easy up.

We also took the starter out and tested it and it tested fine. We also changed the crank position sensor. Once we get everything put back on we will see if the sensor helps.

Do you an opinion on that?

We have been inspecting the wires as we go and they look fine.

Again the big puzzle is it just stopped while driving and it won't turn over now.

My opion on the crank sensor is yes it could cause the engine to die if it went bad you would loose spark.But it would not cause the engine to not turn over that's why Iam having you turn it over by hand to elminate the possibilty of the engine freezing up.Then we could get the engine spining then go from there.So does the engine spin over freely with the spark plugs out?Have you had the battery charged and tested yet if not I would do that and if it's good put it back in ad make sure the battery cables are clean and tight.Also have you checked all the fuse's?Do you have a multimeter?Let me know what you find.
